• Plant store bought Amaryllis outside

• Mid month, plant lima beans and corn

• Feed houseplants with fertilizer

• Plant begonia, colius, geraniums and petunias

• Spray azaleas with insecticidal soap

• End of month, plant snap beans, corn, squash, peas and lima beans

• Place newspaper mulch 10 sheets thick under tomato plants and cover with pine straw

• Plant rosemary, basil, oregano and dill

• Prune early flowering azalea once finished blooming

• Remove tall sprouts at base inside the azalea

• Dig, divide and transplant crowded iris after they bloom

• Remove leafless limbs from shade trees

• Snip off sprouts from base of crepe myrtle

• Apply Bacillus thuringiensis to cabbage and broccoli

• After weigelia flowers, remove old branches and winter-killed twigs

• Pinch tops of pachysandra to make them thicker

• Cut back ½ of tradescantia when it reaches 12”

• In late May, pinch balloon flowers by ½ (Platycodon grandiflorus)

• If hosta are damaged by late spring frost, prune damage and keep moist

• Deadhead daylilies

• Deadhead bearded iris

• Beginning of month, cut back Monarda didyma

• Mid month, cut back Monarda again
