- Periodically remove damaged and dead foliage from aspidistra
- Once all flowering is finished in cluster of tradescantio, deadhead flowers. If foliage is brown, cut by 2/3
- Deadleaf hosta but leave green foliage for winter protection
- Deadleaf rosemallow
- Shear off old top growth of Heuchera - do NOT prune for winter
- In early month cut all gallardia flowers to basal foliage to stimulate vegetative growth before frost
- Buy spring flower bulbs on sale but don't plant until early October
- Plant peony - the best for GA - 'Festiva Maxima'
- Refurbish the mulch in the beggie garden
- Replace mulch under roses to prevent disease
- Use pre-emergent mid to end of month
- Plant trees and shrubs
- Examine houseplants for insects
- Divide daylilies
- Divide iris
- Examine flower beds for tired perennials like Shasta, Blay-eyed Susan, Conefloeer, etc and deadhead/deadleaf
- Fertilize Salvia and Chrysanthemums with liquid plant food
