I thought for a bit that Spring might be coming, but alas, I am fooled every year. The past few days have been very cold - freezing at night. Some of the leaves coming out are evidence of that.
Last weekend Dan and I laid out pinebark mulch in 2 of the beds. There is still about 7 cubic yeards to go, though. We also made a very cool trellis out by the fig tree. It is about 6 feel tall and has wire strung between it. We planted 3 - 5 gallon Lady Banks Roses there. They are full of blooms so I can't wait to see them in action.
I also cut back the forsythia finally. Turns out that all the junk under the bush was runners, not the bush itself. And because of that it was killing off limbs underneath. It should get more sun and air circulation now.
When we got back from vacation the chicken coup was all torn up. We really think it was those blasted dogs from next door. We have only 3 chickens left - 2 golden comits and 1 leghorn.
Also recently we bought several blueberry bushes. They are jam packed with blooms.
This time of year, there are changes in the garden almost daily.
