These flowers have been out from end of March to yesterday.
The ajuga looks really nice. Alley was in there yesterday playing with a few bumble bees.
Three azalea that are blooming nicely. I got them at the Orphan sell last fall. I really like their color; it matches the Jane magnolia which is close by and blooms at the same time. I hope they grow really big and block the view of that ramp and door.
This is one branch of a pretty bush. I can never remember the name, so it has taken me a long time t find it. I first saw it in front of a store over by work - it was huge!
The Lady Banks rose is beginning to bloom. For the first time ever I have made it multiple years with this rose. They are supposed to be easy - blueberries too - but they just are difficult for me.
This is a really large crabapple tree over by the forsythia. It is beautiful. The problem is that it is kind of hidden and tangles with kudzu. But the tree is just too tall for me to get it down.
Yes, I did it. I murdered the crepe myrtle. It was just way way way too tall. I coun't care for it. So, we chopped them down. I hope to keep them a little shorter than they were. They are really too tall for the space they were planted in - you miss the blooms when you walk up.
Flowering quince - didn't bloom last year but did show a bit this march.
I moved this climbing rose last fall from over by the veggies. I was sure I killed it. So many times I was going to throw it out, but I was too lazy. Good thing - it is leafing out. May not bloom this year, but it survived. I think it will look nice covering this gazebo - the jasmine (white) is on the opposite corner.
I found some daffodils and crocus in the Home Depot bag uried beind bins on the potting bench. They were trying to bloom. So I helped them along and planted them - about 6 months too late. But they are happy. The daffodils are cool once they bloom - they are mini's AND they are doubles.
Just an evolving picture of my favorite hydrangea - the Stars Hayburst. This is the one I gave Pa for father's day. They are hard to find but I layered this one.
Hellebores. Need I say more :)
This is kinda puney but it is the beginning of another blooming azalea - it is light pink.
More hellebore's. I just LOVE these.
The new Jane magnolia bloomed for the first time just about the time that the others in the area were done. I got 3 blooms on it this year - also from the orphan sell last fall. The other 2 magnolias (start magnolias) leafed out but without blooming.
This is the rose that I need Dan to help me with - installing the trellis. It is doing well - another orphan sale find.
I cut back the grape vine - hope we get some grapes this year.
The redbud is really blooming this year. Last year we got the fisrt bloom, but only a small little bundle. This year there is a lot more blooms.
I whacked back the HUGE butterfly bush for the first time since we got it. This thing is massive and really should be moved but I am afraid it will kill it.
Ray and Ginnie gave us this rooster for christmas. I think it looks great hanging on the barn.
Just a picture of the house in late March.
